Fern Gully Forest Cabins are 16kms outside Knysna in a rural, historical, scenic area and offer self-catering accommodation for visitors to the Garden Route. Each wooden cabin is uniquely built and fully equipped for self-catering ease. The uniquely built wooden cabins are set amongst the trees where one can enjoy the serenity of the country and the bird-life in their natural habitat. Each cabin is so positioned as to provide optimum privacy and seclusion, tucked away at the edge of a treed gorge - giving the impression and ambiance of being in the tree tops.
An affordable getaway in the heart or nature but within easy access to Knysna and Sedgefield and all the scenic and recreational activities in the area.
The Red Barn at Fern Gully Farm is a country, family run restaurant offering alfresco dining on a garden terrace surrounded by Macadamia nut orchards with a backdrop of the Homtini mountain range. Farm breakfasts, country lunches, Tapas, Gourmet Pizzas and Sunday (free-range) roast lunch – fresh, just like Mother Nature intended.

"Dear Michelle, thanks a million for walking that extra mile for my family. The self-catering cabins are well equipped, you will definitely hear from us again, especially now that I know dogs are welcome! The perfect get away from city life especially with the loeries visiting."
"Thank you Thank you for a wonderful time, we loved the forest cabin! Regular visits from the Loerie and even managed to feed them grapes by hand. She also brought two chicks along too - what an experience. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and your hospitality."
"I wanted a unique experience for my husband's 30th Birthday and could not have picked a better place.. Awesome memories and LOTS of photo's. Was absolutely magical being surrounded by forest and the cabins are really wonderfully secluded. The food is wonderful so even if you dont end up staying in one of the cabins I suggest you do end up having a meal at The Red Barn :)"
"Only stayed 2 nights, but the overall impression was excellent. The people are very friendly and the cabins were neat. The outdoor shower made my day and to see the birds so close to us in the woods was awesome. Great job guys"
"I really enjoyed relaxing in the lovely cabin with the peace and tranquility of nature. This is really something special. I know there wont be a second time round for me, but I have the memories and the photos to fall back on when I reminisce. It is really something to remember. Thank you so much for your hospitality - best wishes."
"We experienced the Fern Gully "BIG 3" - a pretty little tree frog with a singing croak that was much bigger than he was. The exotic Knysna Loeries so tame they ate crumbs from our hands and the monkeys that kept us amused all afternoon with their antics. Our log cabin in the tree tops provided a perfect escape from hectic city schedules - it was like living in a nut-shell."
Family and friends came from far and wide and a wonderful ‘feast’ was had at the Red Barn Restaurant on Fern Gully Farm.
What memories were recalled – 100 years of them…!
Woodmill Lane in Knysna has recently become the home to a magnificent driftwood sculpture of an elephant – proving that Knysna is still the heart of artistic craftsmanship.
